22 Day Namibia Expedition: Landscapes, Wildlife and Adventure

OverviewAccommodationMealsActivitiesGood to Know

22 Day Namibia Expedition is an immersive guided journey through the country’s deserts, coast, mountains and premier wildlife areas. Over 21 nights, this extensive route combines comfortable lodge stays with authentic camping beneath Namibia’s famously clear skies.

First, begin in Windhoek before travelling into the red dunes of the Kalahari. Then, explore southern Namibia’s quiver trees and ancient dolerite formations. Continue across the Namib to Sossusvlei, the Atlantic coast, Brandberg and Vingerklip before dedicating six nights to Etosha and the Onguma reserve area.

Because the route unfolds over more than three weeks, there is time to appreciate each landscape instead of simply passing through. Meanwhile, a professional guide manages the driving, camp routine and daily logistics. Therefore, you can focus on wildlife, photography and the pleasure of discovering Namibia with a small group.

In addition, every region brings a fresh mood. However, the itinerary maintains a comfortable rhythm. For example, longer camping sections are followed by lodge stays. Therefore, the expedition feels adventurous without becoming rushed. Moreover, the scenery changes constantly.

Highlights of this Namibia expedition

Ultimately, the 22 Day Namibia Expedition is ideal for adventurous travellers who want Namibia’s variety in one thoughtfully paced safari.

The expedition includes 21 nights in a carefully balanced mix of camping and accommodated stays. Consequently, you enjoy close-to-nature evenings as well as regular opportunities for a comfortable bed and private facilities.

Camping beneath Namibia’s skies

Camping is planned in the Kalahari, near the Quivertree Forest, at Sesriem, around Brandberg and throughout the Etosha section. Established campsites provide practical facilities, while the group’s camping equipment creates a welcoming base after each day’s exploration.

Comfortable lodge stays

Accommodation is planned in Windhoek, at Greenfire Desert Lodge, in Swakopmund and near Vingerklip. In addition, a final Windhoek night provides time to relax before departure. Comparable properties may be used when the named option is unavailable.

Etosha camps

Inside Etosha, the planned route uses Okaukuejo Resort and Halali Resort. Both offer convenient access to wildlife routes and floodlit waterholes. Afterwards, two nights at Onguma add a private reserve atmosphere near Etosha’s eastern boundary.

Meals are included as shown in the daily schedule. Generally, full safari days include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Arrival day includes dinner, while the final departure day includes breakfast.

During camping sections, your guide coordinates practical camp meals. Guests may be invited to help with simple camp tasks, which adds to the friendly group spirit. During accommodated sections, meals may be served at the lodge or a suitable local venue.

Please advise us about dietary requirements before booking. Although remote kitchens do their best to assist, specialised products may be limited outside the main towns. Drinks beyond those specifically confirmed, premium beverages and personal snacks are excluded.

Desert and geological landscapes

First, photograph the Kalahari’s red dunes and visit the Quivertree Forest, where distinctive aloe trees rise above dark dolerite rock. Later, explore Sossusvlei and Deadvlei in the cooler morning hours. Sesriem Canyon adds another perspective on the forces that shaped the Namib.

Coast, mountains and culture

Next, enjoy free time and optional activities in Swakopmund. Then, continue inland towards Brandberg and the sculpted landscapes of Damaraland. Guided walks, cultural visits and nature drives may be added when available.

Etosha wildlife viewing

Finally, spend six nights in and around Etosha. Guided drives connect productive Etosha waterholes, open plains and mopane woodland. Elephant, giraffe, zebra, antelope, lion and rhino may be seen, although every sighting remains natural and unpredictable. Read our guide to game viewing in Etosha before departure.
