A 10-day Namibia safari filled with wildlife and desert scenery

This Namibia safari brings together many of the country’s most memorable landscapes in one guided journey. Starting and ending in Windhoek, the route links Etosha National Park, rugged Damaraland, coastal Swakopmund and the towering dunes of Sossusvlei.

Each region adds a new chapter to the adventure. First, you watch for wildlife beside busy waterholes and across Etosha’s pale salt-pan landscapes. Then, you travel through the open spaces of north-western Namibia, where ancient rock art and desert-adapted wildlife reveal a different side of the country. Finally, the Atlantic coast and Namib Desert create a striking finish.

The tour uses comfortable lodge accommodation and a guided safari vehicle. Because the group remains small, there is more room for personal attention, unhurried stops and shared discoveries. It is an inviting choice for travellers who want an adventurous route without giving up the comfort of a bed, a hot shower and welcoming Namibian hospitality at the end of the day.

Highlights of your Namibia safari

  • Search for elephants, lions, giraffes, antelope and abundant birdlife in Etosha National Park.
  • Enjoy game viewing at Mount Etjo and in the private Hobatere Concession.
  • Explore the dramatic scenery, ancient rock engravings and living cultures of Damaraland.
  • Look for desert-adapted elephants in Namibia’s rugged north-west, when conditions allow.
  • Spend time in Swakopmund, a relaxed coastal town known for cafés, galleries and optional adventures.
  • Walk among the immense dunes and clay pans of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei.
  • Visit Sesriem Canyon and photograph the rich colours of the Namib Desert.
  • Travel with a guide while accommodation, listed meals and park entrance fees are arranged for you.

Wildlife sightings always depend on nature. However, the varied habitats and several game-viewing areas give you excellent opportunities throughout the journey.

What to expect on this guided Namibia tour

Your days blend scenic road travel, wildlife viewing, cultural interest and time outdoors. In Etosha, game drives focus on the park’s waterholes and wide-open plains. These landscapes make animals easier to spot, while the clear light rewards patient photographers.

Damaraland feels wilder and more remote. Granite outcrops, dry riverbeds and broad valleys shape the view. Here, the journey introduces you to the area’s rock-art heritage and the communities who call this demanding landscape home. You may also encounter desert-adapted elephants, although their movements can never be guaranteed.

Swakopmund offers a refreshing change of pace beside the Atlantic Ocean. You can explore the town on a Swakopmund City Tour, discover desert wildlife on the Living Dunes Experience, relax over coffee or choose another optional activity. Afterwards, the route turns inland again for Sossusvlei. An early start helps you experience the dunes in softer light, when their sweeping curves and deep shadows are especially beautiful.

A safari for curious, active travellers

This Namibia safari suits travellers who enjoy variety and do not mind longer driving days between remote destinations. There are opportunities for walking and light hiking, so a reasonable level of mobility is helpful. At the same time, the accommodated format makes the trip more comfortable than a camping safari.

Comfortable stays along the Namibia safari route

The itinerary uses a selection of welcoming Namibia lodges and rest camps, generally in the two- to three-star range. Properties are chosen for their location, comfort and access to each day’s activities. The planned stays include Mount Etjo Safari Lodge, accommodation near Etosha’s eastern gate, Okaukuejo Rest Camp, Hobatere Lodge, a Damaraland lodge, Swakopmund, Windhoek and the Sossusvlei area.

Named properties remain subject to availability. If a preferred lodge is full, Travel 2 Namibia will arrange a suitable alternative of a similar standard. Your final quotation and travel documents will confirm the accommodation.

Meals are included as shown in the daily itinerary. Most touring days include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some nights in Swakopmund and Windhoek leave dinner open, which gives you the freedom to choose a local restaurant. Please tell us about dietary needs when you enquire so that we can discuss them with the accommodation providers.
