Sandboarding

09:30–13:30 · Departs Swakopmund accommodation or 25 Moses Garoeb Street

Discover pure desert adrenaline on a professionally guided sandboarding trip approximately 11 km from Swakopmund. The operator has specialised in coastal sandboarding since 1996 and uses a 100-metre star dune with six different faces, allowing each run to build confidence and excitement.

Lie-Down Sandboarding

No previous experience is required. After a safety briefing and instruction, begin on “Little Nellie”, a gentle curving run designed to teach steering and stopping. Progress to the longer, steeper Birgit Run before tackling Lizzie, where confident riders may reach speeds of about 60 km/h.

The tandem toboggan pairs two guests on a long, gentle slope. The fastest run, Dizzy, uses an extra-polished board and can reach up to 80 km/h. The morning finishes with the Gentle Valley run back toward the starting point.

Stand-Up Sandboarding

Stand-up boarding also requires no previous experience, although balance or prior board-sport experience helps. Snowboards with soft boots and bindings are used, with Formica-base boards available for experienced riders. Sand behaves differently from snow, but professional instructors teach balance and turning techniques throughout the morning.

Stand-up guests may also join the lie-down group for the Lizzie and Dizzy runs.
