Madisa Camp in Damaraland
Madisa Camp is an eco-conscious wilderness camp in the Sorris Sorris Conservancy of north-western Namibia. Granite boulders, mopane trees and the dry Goantagab riverbed shape the setting. The camp is a useful base for self-drive travellers exploring Damaraland and its cultural and natural landmarks.
Madisa operates as a joint-venture tourism project with the conservancy. Its low-key design suits the landscape, with safari tents built around rock formations and campsites placed beneath trees. The UNESCO-listed Twyfelfontein or /Ui-//aes rock-art site is one of the wider region’s important attractions.

Guests can choose between furnished safari tents, private campsites and overland sites. Each option is simple, practical and closely connected to the surrounding wilderness.

The eco-friendly tents have beds and an en-suite rock bathroom with a basin, toilet and open-air shower. Double and family configurations are available.

The round rock pool is the main place to cool off after a drive, while the nearby bar and shaded seating provide a casual communal area. The camp is primarily self-catering, so travellers should plan food and fuel carefully before reaching this remote part of Damaraland.

Activities from Madisa Camp
Guided elephant-tracking excursions may be offered in the surrounding conservancy. Guides interpret tracks and signs while searching for desert-adapted elephants, but sightings cannot be guaranteed. A respectful distance must always be maintained.
