Scenic Desert Tour
Ride approximately 11–12 km from the town centre through the dry Swakop River bed and into the dunes. Learn how to climb and descend on a fat bike, choose optional steep descents, and return via the coast and river mouth, where flamingos and other birds may be seen. Daily departures are at 08:30, 11:00 and 14:30. Suitable from age 7 for guests able to cycle for two hours.
“Up Close” Living Desert
A 3.5-hour family-friendly journey through Swakopmund, the riverbed, gravel plains, dunes and beach, focused on the desert’s hidden plants and animals. Includes an experienced guide, bike, helmet and small snack. Operates Monday to Saturday at 08:30. Suitable from age 7 for guests able to cycle intermittently for 3.5 hours.
Adventure Desert Tour
Designed for experienced cyclists, this approximately 21 km route doubles the distance of the scenic tour. It crosses the riverbed and about 7 km of gravel plain before traversing the dune belt to the Atlantic coast, with longer, more technical riding. Includes guide, bike, helmet and snack. Operates Monday to Saturday at 08:30.
Sandwich Harbour
Begin with accommodation pickup in Swakopmund or Walvis Bay and a roughly 40 km 4×4 transfer past the lagoon and salt pans. From a base camp, cycle for about three hours and 16–18 km along beach and dunes to Sandwich Harbour lagoon. Park fees, pickup, guide, bike, helmet, water, light lunch and refreshments are included. The tour is tide dependent and intended for regular cyclists.
Private Sandwich Harbour rates are N$4,900 per person for two guests, N$3,850 for three guests and N$3,700 for four or more guests.
“Old City” Swakopmund
Cycle past historic buildings and landmarks while a knowledgeable guide brings Swakopmund’s story to life. The family-friendly tour is also offered as a walking experience and departs daily at 08:30, 11:00 and 14:30.
City and Desert Combo
Combine the historic town ride with the Scenic Desert route for a 360-degree introduction to Swakopmund. Ride past landmarks before exploring dunes with desert, sea and town views. Depending on weather, the order may be reversed. Departures are Monday to Saturday at 08:30 and 14:30.
