Wolwedans Namibia is a collection of small camps and lodges within the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Each property is carefully positioned among dunes, gravel plains and mountains, with wide views and a strong focus on the surrounding environment.

Wolwedans began in 1995 with four simple tents and has developed into a small collection rather than one large resort. Its light-footprint approach connects tourism revenue with NamibRand conservation, vocational training and community initiatives. The style is deliberately quiet and landscape-led.
Wolwedans camps and NamibRand accommodation
The collection includes Dune Camp, Desert Lodge, Plains Camp, Mountain View Suite and Boulders Camp. Dune Camp and Desert Lodge provide sociable tented accommodation. Boulders Camp is particularly remote, while Plains Camp suits private groups. Mountain View Suite offers an exclusive stay with a private guide and vehicle.
Rooms use canvas, timber and natural materials to keep the desert in view. Private decks, en-suite bathrooms and carefully placed seating areas are typical, although facilities differ by camp.
Dune Camp accommodates up to 16 guests in six standard tented rooms and a two-room family suite. Desert Lodge has ten tented rooms. Plains Camp is an exclusive four-bedroom villa, Boulders has five tented rooms, and Mountain View Suite is designed for two adults.
Facilities at a NamibRand desert lodge
Each camp has its own main lounge and dining space. Pools or small water-filled chillers are available at selected properties. Meals are prepared at camp, and dietary requirements should be sent well before arrival.
Connectivity is limited by design and location. Power, laundry, wellness options and family facilities vary, so we will check the details for your chosen camp.
At Dune Camp, raised rooms have indoor and outdoor showers, private decks and small water-filled “Wolwedans Chillers.” Natural airflow replaces air conditioning, and hairdryers are not provided. Selected camps have swimming pools, room minibars and Wi-Fi in the main area rather than throughout.
Desert experiences from Wolwedans Namibia
Typical activities include morning and afternoon scenic drives, full-day reserve explorations, guided walks, e-biking and sundowners. Stargazing is a natural highlight in the dark-sky reserve. Horse riding, ballooning and sleep-outs may be offered at selected camps for an additional charge.
Activity programmes differ by camp, season and weather. A minimum two-night stay is generally required, while three nights provide a more unhurried experience.
Full-day scenic safaris allow enough time to cross different habitats and stop for lunch. Shorter sunrise and sunset drives suit a slower day. Solitude experiences, Heart and Home village visits, guided Bushman walks and e-biking are included at several camps; exact combinations differ by property.

Age policies vary considerably. Some camps welcome children, while others set a minimum age or focus on adults. Private-use Plains Camp is often the most flexible family choice. Provide children’s ages before choosing a camp.

Charter flights can use the Wolwedans or Keerweder airstrips, followed by a camp transfer. Self-driving from Windhoek takes most of a day. Boulders Camp is substantially farther south than the other properties, so it requires different logistics and should never be treated as an interchangeable room category.
