Overview of Namib Desert Lodge

Namib Desert Lodge is located 60 kilometers north of Sesriem on the C19 road in the Sossusvlei area of Namibia. This property sits at the base of ancient fossilized dunes, complementing the red sand sea of the Namib Desert. It's part of the Gondwana Collection and provides a base for exploring the surrounding dunes and landscapes.

Guests can take drives through the red dunes at sunset or early morning, viewing the sienna glow of the sands, distant riverine trees, and purple-blue mountains. The lodge has a relaxed, friendly ambience, with opportunities to watch gemsbok at the waterhole, walk trails into the dunes, or relax by the pool.

For a deeper desert experience, guests can book a night at the affiliated Dune Star Camp, a separate hideaway deep in the desert with wooden bungalows for stargazing.

The area features red sands, camelthorn trees, and wildlife like gemsbok. Access is via gravel roads, with secure parking available. One room is suitable for guests with restricted mobility. Transfers to nearby airstrips can be arranged separately.

• Designed for self-catering, located near main facilities.

Campsites

• Three sites, each for up to six people with one camper van or two SUVs.
• Shared ablution facilities with hot and cold water, power points, barbecue areas, shade, and lights.
• Wood available for purchase; no pets allowed.

• Sossusvlei Excursion: Half-day trip to Sossusvlei (5-6 hours), including park fees, brunch, refreshments; departs 1 hour before sunrise, pre-booking essential.
• Desert Night Walk: Short post-dinner walk spotting nocturnal creatures with UV light (45 minutes).

Unguided Activities

• Hiking Trails: Self-paced walks with maps from reception; return before nightfall.

For a unique stay, book Dune Star Camp: Transfer to a remote site for stargazing from beds on decks (overnight, with breakfast).
