UrbanCamp Windhoek in the city centre
UrbanCamp Windhoek combines a leafy camping atmosphere with a convenient city location. The property is on Schanzen Road, close to shops, restaurants and central attractions. It works well for the first or last night of a Namibia road trip, as well as for travellers who want an informal Windhoek base.
Large trees shade the grounds, while paths connect the tents, campsites and shared social areas. For local visitor information, see the City of Windhoek tourism page.
Despite its central setting, the camp is screened by fencing and vegetation, and secure parking is available without advance reservation. Hosea Kutako International Airport lies outside Windhoek, so allow roughly 40 to 50 minutes for the road transfer rather than treating the camp as an airport hotel.
Windhoek glamping tents and campsites
Comfort tents provide made-up beds, towels, power, lighting, mosquito nets, a fan, a small fridge, a laptop safe and tea-and-coffee facilities. Depending on the tent type, beds may be arranged as a king or twins. Garden tents offer a simpler twin-bed option near the shared facilities.
Travellers with camping equipment can reserve a campsite. Sites include power and lighting, with access to modern shared bathrooms and barbecue facilities.
All tent and campsite guests use shared ablution blocks rather than private bathrooms. The bathrooms have hot, drinkable water. Tents suit travellers without camping gear, while sites can accommodate rooftop tents, motorhomes, caravans and overland vehicles when vehicle dimensions are supplied in advance.
Facilities at UrbanCamp
The central area includes a swimming pool and an informal beer garden. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available, and an on-site ATM adds convenience. Clean shared bathrooms serve the camping and tent areas.
A nearby shopping centre has a supermarket, pharmacy, fuel station and other practical services. Several restaurants are also within walking distance, which makes self-drive arrivals straightforward.
Every campsite has a 220-volt, 5-amp outlet using a South African three-pin plug. The supply is appropriate for ordinary charging but not high-demand appliances. A paid laundry service is available; items delivered early can usually be washed the same day, weather permitting, because drying uses solar energy.
Exploring Windhoek from UrbanCamp
UrbanCamp is well placed for a relaxed meal or a short city visit. Depending on your schedule, consider a guided city tour, local craft shopping or a visit to central landmarks. We can arrange activities and transfers as part of a wider Namibia itinerary.
Although the camp feels green and quiet, it remains an urban property. Keep normal city awareness in mind and store valuables in the safe provided.
The small on-site kitchen and bar make a simple meal possible without driving. Overnight guests may meet outside visitors for lunch or dinner after notifying reception, but the pool, camping and barbecue areas remain reserved for residents. Access for visitors closes in the evening.
Planning your central Windhoek campsite
Young children may stay free, while reduced child rates can apply to older children sharing with adults. Exact terms depend on the accommodation type, so confirm occupancy when requesting a quote.
Tell us whether you need a tent, a campsite or a transfer. Travel 2 Namibia can check current availability and connect your Windhoek stay with car hire, airport arrangements and the next stage of your journey.
Reception can arrange a private taxi for journeys around Windhoek. Walking after dark is not recommended, even for short routes. Families should note that child reductions differ between camping with personal equipment and furnished tents, so the selected product matters when calculating the total.
