Frans Indongo Lodge offers a peaceful savanna stop north of Otjiwarongo, with gardens, thatched accommodation and open views towards the Waterberg landscape. It suits travellers breaking the journey between Windhoek, Etosha National Park and the Zambezi region. Spend an afternoon on the terrace, watch the waterhole or leave time for a nature drive.
Frans Indongo Lodge in central northern Namibia
The lodge draws inspiration from Namibia’s Ovambo culture, combining warm interiors with shaded outdoor spaces. Its observation deck and tower create places to linger between excursions. Explore other Waterberg and central northern accommodation when planning a route with manageable driving stages.
Rooms, chalets and family units
Accommodation includes comfort rooms, twin rooms and chalets, together with two family units. The family units have two bedrooms and a shared bathroom with a shower and bath. Selected rooms offer easier access; tell us your specific mobility requirements so the suitable room can be requested.
Rooms provide air conditioning for heating and cooling, mosquito nets, a safe, hairdryer, fridge and tea and coffee facilities. A minibar can be arranged on request. Published family and sofa-bed tariffs depend on the number and ages of guests, so include children’s ages with your enquiry. A separate bush campsite approximately two kilometres from the lodge offers a simpler alternative, with prices available on request.
Relax and dine at Frans Indongo
The restaurant serves a breakfast buffet, lunch and a set dinner menu. Breakfast is included in the room tariff, while other meals are charged separately. Room service is available on request. The lapa has a lounge, fireplace and bar, and the terrace gives guests an outdoor place to enjoy the surroundings.
A swimming pool, curio shop and conference facilities complete the main lodge amenities. Wi-Fi is available in the lodge area, and the supplier lists mobile reception and mains electricity. Check-in starts at 14:00 and check-out is at 10:00. Visa and Mastercard are accepted. Share dietary needs when arranging your reservation.
Nature drives and conservation visits
Two-hour nature drives operate in the morning and late afternoon, with departure times changing by season. Unguided walking trails take approximately one and a half to three hours. Birdwatchers can also spend time around the lodge and waterhole, looking for species associated with the savanna setting.
Guided and self-drive visits to the Cheetah Conservation Fund offer another outing. Choose an educational tour, cheetah drive or cheetah run, subject to the relevant programme and age restrictions. Guided visits need advance booking and at least two participants. The cheetah run and combination programme do not allow children under sixteen. Self-drive outings to Waterberg Plateau Park and an Otjiwarongo township tour are further options; ask us to arrange the details.
